Chapter 2 - Rooseveltown, New York

I was taking a driving tour through rural Rooseveltown, just east of Massena, and finding it both attractive and surprisingly populated:

There were modular homes:

And what appeared to be old farm houses:

All surrounded by beautiful trees. This was comfortable country living:

Many homes were nearly hidden by the trees:

And have you noticed the big, blue skies overhead?:

This family had a picnic table outdoors beneath a spruce tree. It seemed to me to be a grand place for children to grow up:

But this old farmstead scene truly took my breath away:

Sadly, however, when I got to the front of the house I discovered it was no longer occupied and was falling into disrepair:

A giant old barn was nearby and it too seemed abandoned:

And this cleverly constructed home with multiple additions and a full length front porch with geometric patterns:

More comfortable country living. I'd expected to find a few homes and perhaps a barn or two in Rooseveltown. But I found instead a nice rural community full of attractive homes with a friendly sort of feel to it. I'll post Part 3 tomorrow:
