"What If You Slept," A Poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge

What if you slept

And what if

In your sleep

You dreamed

And what if

In your dream

You went to heaven

And there plucked a strange and beautiful flower

And what if

When you awoke

You had that flower in you hand

Ah, what then?

  1. Ah yes - and what if, even better, you held in your awakening a home filled with rescued dogs and cats, would not heaven still be with you all your days?
