In yesterday's post I presented this picture of a lovely red brick building and wondered if it might be a private residence. A friend emailed me to let me know that it was the original home of Albany Academy and now houses Albany School District offices:
I also posted a photo of this white marble building, calling it "a domed building whose identity was unknown to me." I said that it sure looked official, though. But another email from the same friend identified it as the State Court of Appeals Building. During the 80s, her husband's mother and sister both worked for the state of New York, cleaning it late into the night hours. In those days, the position was called "charwoman" but that is now considered an insulting name and the job title has been changed:
