North Country Porches - Part 1

I remarked many times on how front porches are popular up here in the north country. I've even speculated that it has become something of an art form. I decided that some day, I'd find a concentration of homes with wonderful porches all together and make a blog post out of them. Well, I found such a neighborhood in Massena, so here are some lovely front porches, north country style:

This is one of my favorite homes because it's so elaborate. By the way, there is a chair or two on that second story balcony:

The same house as above, but a side view. I was amazed to note that the side had a two story porch as well:

A formal porch and a porte-cochère (yes, I had to look that word up):

A duplex home with a double, two tiered porch:

A wrap-around porch plus a balcony:

A smaller porch and bigger balcony, both with formal pillars:

A gigantic porch. I'd love to sit out on it but wouldn't want to paint it;

A smaller porch on a big house, yet still it kept to the traditional north country style:

A brick home with a pillared porch:

Another brick home and porch:

A wrap-around porch:

This home looked more modern to me, but it may just have been a different style. Yet there were lots more front porches to see, and I'll post Part 2 tomorrow:
