We made it all the way through Christmas and into January with only occasional light snows and relatively mild temperatures. The dogs, like Clover and Daphne shown here, got more than the usual amount of outdoor time in their fenced yard:
Jack, Fergus and Seamus loved to scan for intruders and bark their fool heads off. Even a passing car set them off. Notice the little rooster in the right hand of the photo as well as the pigeons, looking out the barn window:
But when not outdoors, everyone, dogs and cats alike, hung out on the floor pillows and dog beds in the farm house kitchen:
But eventually the temperatures dropped and snow began to pile up. Clover, Daphne and Jack played in it but were happy to get back indoors where it was warm:
Clover sniffed the ground while Fergus and Seamus scanned the horizon for threats:
Clover and Daphne just looked cute:
All five dogs napped comfortably after coming back indoors:
None of the cats go outside at all. They prowl the house and stir up trouble:
They also like to sleep with the dogs, as Bramble is doing here:
At nap time and bed time, all the dogs sleep with me, though the cats have to stay out of the bedroom. Seamus sleeps on the carpet or on his dog bed but the four small dogs sleep on the bed. Jack doesn't show in this photo because he was hiding under the bed:
