Around The Farm In January

I've fed the wild birds each winter since I've been here and noticed that I never see Chickadees in the summer months. Even in wintertime, they're elusive and wary of me. But not this year. There are more of them than usual and they are bold and unafraid:

They let me get right up close to them. Indeed, they land right next to me while I'm refilling he feeders:

Chickadees seem to be such perky, happy birds, though I suppose they are really just struggling to survive:

It may be that they are hungrier than usual this year. I prefer to think it's my charming personality:

Sunset in the western sky, as seen from my front yard:

And the neighbors' farm at sunset:

My cattle are eating two of these big bales every four days:

The chickens have been locked inside for many weeks now:

And the pigeons have been locked indoors for even longer:

I go out early to do the morning chores, and such beauty as this southeastern sky is one of the benefits:

And soon thereafter, the eastern sky lights up with color as the sun reaches the horizon:

It's a gloriously beautiful winter world:

  1. Hi again Bill.
The chickadees must indeed be hungry to leave the safety of the pine forests they prefer; how good of you to feed them.
I have a penchant for moon shots and yours with the planet(?), Venus(?) is beautiful.

    1. Thank you, though I still prefer to think it's my charming personality.
