Our first chance to take a rest stop came after two hours of driving and the dogs and I were all more than ready to get out and stretch our legs. The scenery was spectacular, and once again we seemed to have the whole Adirondack wilderness to ourselves. This is but a brief window into an Adirondack experience and I hope you can get a feel for the wilderness and how it calms and steadies the souls of both humans and dogs. There weren't many birds singing at the time, but neither was there any noise from cars, airplanes or machinery (lots of dog tags jingling, though). The aroma of evergreens heated by the sun is one of my most vivid memories:
