I came down the stairs the other morning while doing chores and saw the array of dogs and cats resting peacefully on the carpet below me. I was moved by the serenity of the scene and impressed by how very blessed I am to have all these critters in my life.
Like most people, I get so caught up in my daily routine and affairs that I don't often enough realize how wonderful my life is. It's so easy to become overly busy, critical, crabby, sleepy, preoccupied, depressed, socially involved or whatever. But I saw all my sleeping dogs and cats below me and realized that I have much for which to be grateful.
I didn't have a camera with me but went to my file of pet pictures and found this old photo of 3 dogs and 1 cat on the carpeting much as it looked to me that morning:
2 of these 3 beloved dogs are now dead, so this picture was especially poignant for me. As I prepare to drive up to the farm this morning, I thought I'd share a photo which illustrates a bit of the blessings which flood my life. It's good for me to be reminded.
