Christmas 2015 Gingerbread House Contest - Part 1

I so thoroughly enjoyed last year's Gingerbread House Contest that I looked forward to the next one all year long. Finally the time arrived, and I drove to the village of Canton to see the entries. TAUNY, or Traditional Arts In Upstate New York, had them on display, with refreshments and live music in the next room:

This year's theme was "Children's Literature" and this edible creation was the Wardrobe which served as the entry into Narnia:

Here's the wardrobe itself. This entry won Second Place, Youth Category:

This elaborate, almost breathtaking castle was called "Journey," after the book of the same name by Aaron Becker. I didn't see the official entry form posted for this one, so I don't know if it won an award - but it certainly would have if I was a judge. I hope it got one:

The town of Who-Ville, from Dr. Seuss' book,"How The Grinch Stole Christmas." This was in the Children's Category:

This yummy gingerbread house was the witch's house from "Hansel And Gretel" and created by an eight year old. She won second place, Children's Category:

The three bears, returning home, from "Goldilocks And The Three Bears." The detail on this was amazing, especially inside the house, where Goldilocks slept on Baby Bear's bed and a broken chair lay on the living room floor. Notice the rocks on the chimney and well. They are chocolate candy. This won Third Place, Family/Community Category:

This creation was from the book, "RONIA, The Robber's Daughter" and depicted the forest cave to which Ronia ran away and lived. This entry was made by a seven year old and won Third Place, Children's Category:

An eleven year old (with some help from Mom) made this depiction of "The Gingerbread Man," inspired by the fairy tale of the same name. It won an Honorable Mention, Children's Category:

This confection illustrated the book, "Magic Tree House At Christmas Time." It won Second Place, Children's Category, and was created by a nine year old. But there were lots more gingerbread houses to see, and I'll post Part 2 tomorrow:
