I was spending a weekend up at the farm and decided to make a couple of driving tours to explore nearby settlements whose names I saw on the map but which were apparently so tiny I hadn't noticed their existence. Most such hamlets are located at the intersection of two roads, but Kellogg, New York was, according to the map, smack dab in the middle of nowhere on County Route 49. I drove there to find out and discovered a small cluster of nice homes:
This was a pleasant, rural community looking a little sleepy in the slanting rays of the morning sun:
There were modern modular homes:
And mobile homes:
This was an office of some sort, though I can't remember what it was for. Well, suffice it to say that Kellogg had some sort of business. It must not have been very active, though, as no snow had been shoveled and I saw no sign of life:
An older farm house:
And a newer home with two chimneys:
A small house and barn set far off the road:
And another small home set far off the road, this one with a travel trailer or motor home parked in the driveway:
A classic small farm on the windswept northern plain:
A more woodsy style home. But there was more to Kellogg, so I'll post Part 2 tomorrow:
