While making various driving tours, I kept noticing County Route 47 but it was so interesting that I planned to save it for summertime when everything was green and lovely. But one fine, recent day I decided to ignore the spring snows and photograph it anyway. I turned north onto County Route 47 at this sign:
The first building I saw was what appeared to be a steel clad home with lots of windows, set down in a valley behind the trees:
And then I came to Martin's Farm Supply. The main sign was on this small outbuilding, along with a big scripture verse:
The business itself was in much larger buildings, with only a sign saying to "Ring bell for service:"
I drove on, passing these big hay bales in the snow, with woodlands backing up the fields:
There were several mobile homes along the road:
Another mobile home:
And then I came to this collection of outbuildings:
I'd formerly thought this was a barn being built, but upon closer inspection, I've decided that it is going to be a house:
And speaking of houses, this old home had apparently been abandoned for many years:
I couldn't see any buildings here at Emmanuel Acres Monastic Farmstead and couldn't find it online, so it will have to remain a mystery. But County Route 47 was rather long, stretching between Route 11B and Route 11, so I had just gotten started. I'll post Part 2 tomorrow:
