A Doggy Romp In The North Field

It was a lovely autumn day but predicted to fall to far below freezing that night. Thinking it might be my last chance, I took the dogs for a romp in the north field - turning off the electric fence first, of course:

Jack and Fergus both love to run, but I managed to catch them momentarily holding still:

But mostly the dogs ran, stopping only when they came to cow pies, still fresh and fragrant. I yelled at them to get away from them lest they eat them or roll in them:

Seamus, with his newly svelte body, had more energy than he'd had in years. He really joined in the fun:

And they sniffed every inch of field they covered:

As I said, Seamus' weight loss seemed to have made him a puppy again:

A beautiful place to run, with a backdrop of autumn color:

Seamus and Jack:

Daphne, Clover and Fergus:

But this was just a short bit of fun on an autumn afternoon, and soon I gave a call for the dogs to come back toward the house with me. Fergus came running:

They all stopped to smell something which was utterly fascinating:

And then we continued on home. Jack ran ahead, crossing the road and waiting for us back at the house, but I managed to get the other dogs to heel, more or less, as we crossed the road:
