Chapter 1 - Santa Clara, New York

Route 458, which I drive often, takes me through the town of Sana Clara. It's mostly forest with only a few homes, but on this day I decided to take a closer look:

There's a state operated boat launch for the dammed (not damned) section of the St. Regis River:

And some rural homes beneath towering pines:

In the hamlet, the homes were mostly small and simple:

And nestled into the forest:

In the hamlet of Santa Clara, a tiny settlement within the town of the same name, there was a cluster of homes. On this day everything was quiet and snow covered, very scenic:

There were trailers, some with additions constructed around them:

And older clapboard homes with rural mailboxes and lots of history:

A green board and batten home:

And lots of snow piled up everywhere:

The homes were clustered together, making it seem as if there must be a real sense of community:

A newer modular home looked cozy and warm in the snow covered landscape. I'll post more about Santa Clara tomorrow:
