Chapter 1 - The Adirondack Town Of Bloomingdale, New York

We were on our way home from the farm a day early because I wanted to avoid a big winter storm. We'd just checked out the Bloomingdale Bog Trail (previous posts) and I'd turned then toward the hamlet of Bloomingdale. As I entered the hamlet, I saw small homes:

And bigger, farm style homes:

And log cabins:

And lots of trailers. This one had wagon wheels out front:

As I entered the more densely settled part of Bloomingdale, I began to see more town type homes, although even there the surrounding Adirondack forest was ever present:

I smiled when I saw this high chain-link fence. Surely this family owns some very large, active dogs:

And a large, old home with lots of enclosed porches and snow-slides to protect the shrubbery:

Turning the corner, I saw Whiteface Mountain on the horizon. It must be nice to have such views from your doorway:

There were trailers:

And big, modern homes:

And this colorful home built on a hill:

There were several places with more than one trailer. I especially liked that old, Adirondack barn on the right. But I took lots of pictures in Bloomingdale because I found it both picturesque and fascinating. I'll post Chapter 2 tomorrow:
