I was traveling the small, rural Port Kent Hopkinton Turnpike just as the sun rose (see yesterday's post) and the morning sun was adding life and luster to an already brilliantly colored landscape. I kept stopping to take more pictures:
I stopped so often, in fact, that my trip was slowed down to where it took several hours to travel this road and even after winnowing the photos, I still ended up with four blog posts of its autumn beauty:
There's lots of water in the north country and each pond or stream provided another lovely view toward the mountains:
In the town of Duane, I passed this old church which had recently been fixed up. I didn't see any signs that it was being used as a church, so perhaps it was refurbished for its historical value. The morning's rosy light added a glow to the scene:
I stopped on a bridge to see the lively river passing below, all framed in autumn leaves:
The road had by this time become a narrow, seasonal road which wouldn't even be available during the winter months. But the seasonal colors at this time of the year were unbeatable:
Beauty everywhere I looked:
A small concrete bridge carried my little car over a small stream and on through the glowing foliage:
I stopped beside a pond. The road here was quite narrow, but so seldom traveled that I simply stopped in the road to view the scenery. The dogs kept their eyes on me:
Wilderness waterways lined the road and reflected the yellow, red, green and orange foliage:
I stopped often to take photos, filled with awe at the beauty all around me:
And nearly always there were mountains on the horizon. I was traveling through fairly flat terrain but this was was, after all, the Adirondacks. But this is only Part 2 of 4 posts celebrating the autumn beauty along the Port Kent Hopkinton Turnpike. I'll post Part 3 tomorrow:
