Our snow remained, yet the weather otherwise was so pleasant that I'd been locking Remy and Blue out of the barn during the day. They didn't seem to mind at all:
The two horsey boys like to eat the hay on the ground which the cows have scattered:
And both horses often shared the stock tank with the cattle. In this case - Amy, Blue and Remy were all drinking at the same time:
The cows seemed to enjoy our cool, sunny days and considered them a fine time for taking naps:
Little Rocket also liked naps, but he could be playful too:
The Easter Egger bantams began to lay eggs more regularly as the days began lengthening:
I get both pink and green eggs from the Easter Egger bantams, and I believe this is the hen who lays the pink eggs:
The Barred Rock bantams are getting kind of old now and have not yet begun laying. I believe they will start soon, but they are pets and egg laying is not necessary for their survival:
A Barred Rock hen and an Easter Egger hen:
The white fantail pigeons also sense springtime in the air:
They have been pairing up and choosing nests. A few eggs have been laid and then abandoned, but it's early still:
This lady is using the nest which successfully raised a youngster last year. I would guess it is the same mama bird, but I can't be sure because I can't tell them apart:
The hens are truly gorgeous, and also the pigeons! They must be receiving great nutrients! They look so healthy! The weather is beginning to improve here, and am looking forward to a great summer! From Ohio
ReplyDeleteThank you. It is still like winter here, but should warm up this week.
