One afternoon I took the dogs back to the Walter Pratt picnic area in nearby Brasher State Forest. It required little time or energy from me but made the dogs very happy:
They ran and played in the grass by the reservoir:
And ranged far and wide, sniffing beneath the pines:
Clover and Daphne ran and wrestled beside the water lilies in the reservoir:
I didn't do much walking, but kept an eye on the dogs as we checked out the picnic and camping facilities:
This place reminds me very much of the parks in Oregon where my family took us on picnics when we were children. Every time I drive in here, I think of those days:
But for the dogs, it was all fun:
We drove around to the other side of the reservoir and checked out the water's edge:
Clover and Daphne waded right in. That yellow thing by Daphne was a dying water lily leaf:
Then we turned uphill, beneath the trees:
Seamus has been on a strict diet and had a haircut, so he showed off his new, lean body and increased energy:
But this was just a quick bit of fun on a hot afternoon, so I called the dogs back toward the car and we headed for home, just a few miles away. How wonderful it is to live so near beautiful places such as this:
