Denton Road's Winter Finery, Part 1

Denton Road is a gravel road which runs from the town of Lawrence to the town of Nicholville. It may look like a wilderness trail, but there's more traffic on the road and more homes behind those trees than you might guess. It was so lovely on this overcast winter's day that I decided to take some photos:

The white birches arched and swayed like ballet dancers beneath their icy coats:

And seemed to me like white fireworks being shot off over the road:

The trees along a hay field formed a lacy latticework of finery:

With icy beauty wherever I looked:

There was a farm field behind these trees:

Some trees were so bowed that their tops nearly touched the ground:

Farm posts marked the end of a field and the beginning of forest:

This speed boat sat alone and unused as it does all year long:

An entrance to another, smaller farm field:

And then the road took me deeper into the forest:

There were occasional apple trees, but most of the land here had returned to forest many years ago. But there was still more to see, and I'll post Part 2 tomorrow:
