Sleepytime Doggy

While sorting through my pet photos, I couldn't help but notice that I had a lot of shots of old PeeWee sleeping in his dog beds (he has two of them, one upstairs and one downstairs). Well, PeeWee spends a great deal of his life sleeping peacefully, so I decided to dedicate one post to my little Sleeping Beauty:

PeeWee was an oldster who was given up for adoption by his family because they were getting divorced. He was subsequently attacked by a big dog and badly injured. He came to me with stitches and lots of fears, but has recovered marvelously:

PeeWee is nearly blind and nearly deaf but still enjoys life a great deal and is prone to sudden bursts of dancing for joy, especially at dinnertime. He developed a corneal ulcer shortly after coming to live with me but a couple months of treatment have put him aright:

As you can see, it's not real important to PeeWee that he be right inside his doggy bed:

As long as he's touching his beloved bed, he's happy. And he sure does like having my other dogs around. They are gentle with him and I can tell that he feels like he belongs, following them wherever they go:

PeeWee also has a doggy bed beneath my computer desk, so whenever I'm working there, he's right at my feet. That cloudy eye you see is a remnant of his corneal ulcer:

PeeWee is a Papillon mix, so he fits right in with my other Papillons - and he sure knows how to get comfortable:

I have noticed that he's not always actually sleeping. I often see one eye watching me as I move around the room. He likes to sleep, but he also wants to know what's going on around him, what his family is doing:

One of the cats took a liking to PeeWee's computer desk bed, but is only allowed to use it when PeeWee is upstairs in his other bed. When PeeWee's downstairs, this is his domain:

And he does know how to drape himself luxuriously over his bed:

Comfort is his primary goal and he's quite talented at achieving it:

 Sweet dreams, little fella:
