Both horses love their cows and prefer to be with them most of the time. I don't think the cows feel the same affection for the horses - except for Rosella, of course, who seems to have adopted them:
Remy was looking comparatively svelte in this photo, but he too is rather plump:
Both horses often choose strange places to graze. Perhaps it is as simple as the inability to take in the entire field and evaluate which sections will provide the best eating. On the other hand, they're both overweight, so I don't need to worry about them going hungry:
Blue (named for his blue eyes) can look black at times (as in the above photo) and brownish at others (as in the photo below). It depends on how the sun hits his coat:
I was trying to clean the barn floor and Remy had inserted himself right in the middle of everything. I'd shoveled the poop and sodden hay to the center of the aisle while he scratched his rump on some fencing and deposited more poop for me to clean up:
Blue came into the barn and joined Remy. They are much like dogs, wanting to be part of whatever I'm doing, and especially desiring to be the center of attention:
Their interference is cute at first, but I have to throw them out when I'm using the tractor lest they get behind it when I'm backing up or otherwise get hurt. They've learned what a loudly shouted "GET OUT!" means:
At home in the sunny south field, they are a picture perfect pair of ponies:
And they both come running when I enter the field. See the cows in the background? Both horses were with them until they saw me walk through the gate:
