Farm Flowers Of Springtime

Winky had just died and been buried, so I was down to five dogs. All five of them watched as I circled the yard to see what flowers were in bloom:

These are the flowers of May. I'll catch up with summertime flowers in a later post:

The yellow daffodils had been in bloom the previous week, but this week saw the white ones spring up:

Purple violets were everywhere:

And, of course, Dandelions. Now, you may consider them an obnoxious weed, but they are also a beautiful flower. I've always said that if they were delicate and hard to grow, people would be potting them, nurturing them and growing them in greenhouses. But instead, Dandelions are robust and prolific:

A patch of yellow and white. I suppose I'll mow right over this after the leaves die back:

The lilacs had not shown any color on Sunday, but just look at what was happening on Monday. The neighbors' horses and cattle are also visible in the background:

I walked around to the south side of the house and found the pear tree in full bloom plus one other tree, right next to it. Could this be a second pear tree? I don't know. I'll keep an eye on it this year:

A close-up of the pear blossoms:

Frankly, I don't remember what tree this was, pear or apple. Well, it was pretty, whatever it was:

This was a flowering crab, just beginning to pop its buds:

And another flower, my lone Bleeding Heart. Yes, it was a fine day to be alive and to appreciate the wonders of the natural world:
