Chapter 4: Brushton, New York

I was enjoying my driving photo tour of Brushton so much that I took many photos, expanding this presentation to four blog posts. Brushton was an altogether pleasant and attractive village with gracious old homes, front porches and a charming, small town ambiance:

This well kept home was for sale. I didn't find this one on the Internet, but I saw several other Brushton real estate listings and thought the asking prices were higher than one would find in other nearby villages. Apparently I wasn't the only one who thought Brushton would be a pleasant place to live. I suspect that it also served as a bedroom town for the larger town of Malone, just down the road:

Another front porch and another ornamental well in the yard:

Comfortable small town living:

All fixed up and very attractive:

Many of these homes still had barns, now serving as garages:

I began driving back toward home and just on the outskirts of Brushton passed this sign for the American Legion, complete with a real fighter jet:

And the American Legion behind it was large and bustling, with a large baseball field and facilities for parties and dinners. There were folks on the front porch, talking and watching the cars go by:

The homes took on a more rural appearance as I left the center of Brushton behind:

It was not quite dinner time yet, but Scotty's Diner was beginning to get customers:

And the last house I photographed on my driving tour was this large, modern country home. I wondered if it might have been a duplex although I only saw one front door. But I was getting hungry and I had a pack of dogs back at the farm waiting for me to return. So I put away my camera and headed for home:
