The Potsdam Food Co-op, Part 2

I was continuing my tour of the Potsdam Food Co-Op. This was in early summer and their collection of organically grown vegetable and flower seedlings was inviting:

Inside, they had all manner of natural packaged foods, sauces, salad dressings and just about anything you might want:

And, of course, whole grain pastas:

Locally produced pottery and beeswax candles:

The friendly counter folks are always pleasant. On this day they were advertising an upcoming member potluck:

Squeak Creek Apiaries honey, a locally produced treat with which I was already quite familiar:

There was a bakery in an old carriage house out back and the Co-Op had nearly sold out of their products already that day:

 Vitamins and minerals, of course:

In the back, member workers prepared foods for sale. That cooler to the left is where I often find "Fakin Bacon" and Tempeh wraps:

I passed through the produce section again on my way out:

And snapped one last photo of their stunning flowers and attractive building. There were tables on the porch at which a couple of guys chatted as they ate their lunch. Quite a place and an asset to the community:

The Potsdam Food Co-Op, Part 1

Every time I drive in to Potsdam I am struck by the beauty and charm of the Potsdam Food Co-Op. Then I began arranging my trips so I could stop there for an organic, tempeh and local greens wrap with a couple of honey/pistachio bars for desert. But on this day I decided I'd also take some photos, beginning with their stunning garden pathway from the sidewalk:

Inside I found baskets, fruits and all manner of natural goodies:

Onions, potatoes, tomatoes:

Various hummus mixes and - well, I don't remember what else:

And produce galore:

Eggs, yoghurt, dairy:

And bulk foods of all kinds. I bought some oat bran, a food which I learned to love long before it became popular. Now its fad status has passed and one can only buy it at such places as the Potsdam Food Co-Op:

Prepackaged grains, flours, mixes:

And coffees, lots of coffees:

And teas:

Cereals of various kinds. But there was lots more to see and I'll post Part 2 tomorrow:
