White Hill Wild Forest With The Dogs - Part 1

I knew that I couldn't drive the two mile lane into the White Hill Wild Forest parking area this time of year (it isn't plowed), but I got to thinking how pleasant it would be to walk it, at least if snowmobiles had packed the snow down enough. I drove there with the dogs and discovered a winter wonderland, with a beautifully walkable lane into the forest:

I was amazed by the beauty of the snowy scenery, and apparently the dogs liked it also, though probably for different reasons. By the way, take a moment, before you leave this page, to click on these photos to see them enlarged. They show the beauty of the winter forest:

The dogs have been pretty good about not running too far ahead on our recent outings, but they were back to their old ways on this hike. I made the mistake of letting them run far ahead once, to see how far they'd go. Alas, they went much too far. They ran back when called, but I'm afraid I let them think running ahead was OK again. It wasn't. But by the time we got back to the car, they were all behaving beautifully:

Seamus is the most immune to the cold, but none of the dogs seemed to be uncomfortable:

As for me, I was keeping track of the dogs, watching my footing and exulting in the wintry beauty:

The dogs also seemed excited by it all:

We had contemplative moments:

And wild bouts of joyous, playful running:

And everywhere, the natural beauty was extraordinary:

It was cold that day, even if not as cold as most other days lately. I tried to take pictures with my right glove on and wound up dropping the camera in the snow. I wiped off the lens and continued on without my right glove:

Daphne and Clover were, as usual, the adventurous explorers:

Jack kept running and Seamus mostly lagged behind:

That light up ahead was an open area where the road crossed a beaver pond. I thought it would be a good place for photos, but it wasn't. We went on past the beaver pond for a ways, but then turned back along the route we'd come. I'll post Part 2 tomorrow:
