It was such a hot and muggy day that I wanted to avoid doing any work and instead to take the dogs swimming. So we drove just a couple of miles down to a town park on the St. Regis River. Daphne was the first to the water:
Fergus walked out onto a rock and contemplated going in:
All the dogs were playing on the rocks:
And then big Seamus showed them it was OK to enter the water:
Once they'd begun, they all enjoyed a cooling splash in the waters of the St. Regis:
But Seamus enjoyed the water most of all:
Seamus is now old and his legs are a bit wobbly, but he couldn't resist going out farther to enjoy the cool water:
Daphne was more cautious, but of course she's also much smaller and more easily hurt:
We walked down a trail alongside the river. We spent more time doing that than in the water, but it was so dark in the forest that most of the photos were unusable:
Besides, it's more fun to see the dogs enjoying the river:
Little Clover is delicate and cautious, but she too loved this excursion. The dark forest to the left is really how it looked - much like a scene from a German fairy tale:
We returned to our car but took one last dip in the river before we loaded up and headed for home:
