Dogs And Cats, Comfortable At Home

Bramble and Fergus shared the new bed. Bramble had an infected eye at the time, but a course of antibiotics cleared it up in short order:

Fergus, Daphne and Jack watched me with great interest:

Clover wadded up the blue bed for extra softness:

Outside, Daphne and Clover looked cute as the snow fell:

Jack and Fergus preferred to bark at passersby:

Seamus loves to bark also, but Jack was busy looking for the perfect place to pee when I took this picture:

Daphne, all curled up and looking extra cute:

Rocky, the cat I've had the longest:

Clover and Daphne on the snowy ramp:

Seamus began slipping and falling on my bare floors, to the point that I had to do something to help him. I began by putting rubber treads on the stairs (that's Daisy at the top of the stairs, watching me):

Then I ordered yoga mats and put them down to keep Seamus from slipping:

It worked well except that Daisy began clawing them to pieces. I tried putting nail covers on her claws, a process I'm not anxious to repeat. It seemed to work, though the mats continued to deteriorate. It may be that Seamus' big claws and heavy weight are now doing the damage. I decided to live with shredding mats. They may look messy, but as long as they work, both Seamus and I are happy:

  1. You take such good care of your family and they all look so happy. I do worry about your cows though not calving regularly. Hope you find the answer. RB and Alice Eugene OR

    1. Thanks. As for the cows, I am hopeful that the bull was successful in changing things. I have one who may still be pregnant from artificial insemination, but I'll know for sure very soon.

  2. It is remarkable the extent you go to to take care of your animals. It is heartening. I knew a dog once that walked backwards over smooth floors. Wanting something for our floors, I got indoor/outdoor carpets that can be washed with detergent or vinegar as the cat accidents call for. A wall to wall carpet on the stair landing and my furniture is more likely to get scratched (sigh).

    1. Thanks. I have not been able to use carpets with so many dogs and cats (and frankly, I track in a lot dirt too). This is the first dog I've had who had trouble with the floors. Maybe it's because he is so tall (and now he's getting old too).
