Monday morning dawned with clear skies. temperatures in the thirties and gusty winds. There was no snow on the ground at the farm, though, so I decided to take the dogs to the Red Dot Trail and give it a try. When we arrived, however, I discovered a rather good snow cover::
But I wasn't going to let a few inches of snow stop us. I had a warm coat, new sturdy shoes and a hat. I left my gloves in the car, though, so that I could take lots of photos. We parked next to Osgood Pond and began our hike on the Red Dot Trail:
Osgood Pond was lovely, and the coves were already covered with ice:
The trail took us alongside a canal which connected Osgood Pond and Church Pond. The dogs were very happy:
Through snowy Adirondack forests of exquisite beauty. This photo would have made a good Christmas card:
The dogs all ran across a bridge which spanned the canal. The trail, however, pointed us to the left and that's where we went. We eventually, after circling around, came back to that bridge and crossed it:
Trail races! The dogs sure had fun and they sure do love to run:
We arrived at Church Pond, a quiet gem hidden in the forest. We couldn't quite get to the shoreline from here, though, so we kept following the trail:
Madeline and Fergus came back to see what was taking me so long:
And another bridge over the canal. We did cross this one:
Seamus led the way:
And the trail took us right to the shore of Church Pond. But I'll post more tomorrow:
