White Road In Winthrop, New York - Part 2

I was driving on White Road and snapping photos of the rural scenery (see also Part 1, posted yesterday) when I came upon this mailbox post. Actually, I drove right past it before it registered and I had to back up to take a picture. It appears that the owner is a gun enthusiast, but where exactly does the mail go?

A lovely family farm:

Old barns and silo in perfect condition:

Beef cattle, often called "Black Baldies," a mix of Hereford and Angus:

A row of hay bales:

Two hay wagons and, behind them, a row of baleage, wrapped in white plastic:

This appeared to be a lane into the woods, passing by two small sheds - but I decided it was the entrance for the house behind the trees:

A logging operation:

This must have been an old farm house which had a number of additions over the years:

I couldn't tell if this house was historic and modernized, or of more recent construction. Either way, the addition on the back meant it was likely bigger than it at first appeared:

This small, old barn with new doors was my last stop on White Road:

White Road In Winthrop, New York - Part 1

I was on my way to the feed store and decided to take a brief detour to photograph the rural scenery on White Road. I began, however, on Route 11 with this barn:

A sprawling farm house with old fashioned Lilacs in front. They'll be blooming in the spring:

I have often seen this "For Sale" sign and thought it referred to whatever equipment was near it. But a closer look convinced me they were selling land, and the nearby equipment was just a coincidence:

An old barn, almost fallen down:

This house appears to have been abandoned:

White Road has some large, prosperous looking farms like this one:

Another prosperous looking farm:

Outbuildings and a silo:

A house with a nice porch, behind a large stump which was once probably a big Sugar Maple:

It had just snowed an hour ago, but the sun had since come out and the woodlands along the road were frosted with snow. The snowbanks along the road, as you can see, were pretty high:

These cattle were pretty far off the road and I had to use my zoom lens. What struck me was how thin they were, especially in comparison to my own obese cattle. But there was more to see on White Road, and I'll post Part 2 tomorrow:
