Remy and Blue don't seem to mind the snow and cold at all. In fact, they act as if they like it:
They're not afraid to get right in with the big cows when they want to eat some hay:
But they also pick through the hay left behind by the cows after I've moved the bale feeder:
In fact, they act like they find some especially tasty tidbits in such hay leftovers:
The cows are not able to get into the barn except when I call them in for grain, but Remy and Blue can come and go at will. Remy was being coy on this day, watching me through the open doorway and contemplating coming out to be mischievous:
Their hooves seem to feel better now that there's no fresh, green grass to eat. I suspect the cold snow feels soothing also, so I am hoping they'll be more inclined to run and play now:
They also like to paw up the snow in search of green edibles. As you can see in this photo, Remy could have gone to the bale feeder without any competition, but he chose instead to paw at the snow, just to see what he could find:
Blue is less lively than Remy, but he makes up for it by being cute:
And both little horses seem to regard the cows as friends. I don't think the cows feel likewise, but they are at least tolerant:
Nom, nom, nom. Good hay, we like it!
The cows were busy at a newly placed bale, but Blue and Remy attacked the otherwise wasted hay:
And they sure looked cute doing it:
