Pets At Home

Caspar isn't little anymore, but he still acts like a silly kitten. One of his favorite games is getting under one of the fleecy dog beds and then moving it around like a furry ghost:

And speaking of kitten playfulness, I heard a crash and rushed to the kitchen to find this. None of them even felt guilty:

Bugsy decided that the big green floor pillow wasn't quite soft enough, so he draped himself across Clover's body:

Seamus, Fergus and Jack waited at the gate to get back inside the house. The birds were singing and the perfume of the roses filled the air. It is idyllic here much of the time:

A similar scene as the above photo, but seen from the opposite side of the fence:

No, this wasn't a feline confrontation, just Daisy passing peacefully past Sammy:

Pets At Home

The house pets have been happy at home - and totally relaxed, as Caspar and Bugsy demonstrate here:

Seamus is aging and his back legs are giving him more trouble. He finds it difficult to stand or maneuver stairs. And of course the reason for the yoga mats is to help him walk without slipping:

Jack is still not totally housebroken, and I suppose he will always need to wear his belly band when I leave the house. But he is happy and totally sweet:

Each morning the dogs and cats help themselves to dog food and water. In this case it was Clover, Bugsy, Sammy and Daphne. They never argue:

One morning I scrambled more eggs for them, putting it atop the dry dog food. Most of it was not eaten, but removed from the bowls and left on the floor for me to clean up. Later in the day, Jack got sick. I've learned my lesson now and will no longer feed eggs to the dogs or cats:

But life is good, as when the dogs sunned themselves on their ramp while the aroma of apple blossoms drifted across the yard from the apple grove:

And they love to keep me company when I'm at the computer. In this case it was Daphne, Seamus, Fergus and Jack:

Little Caspar isn't so little anymore but he sure is sweet:

 Seamus and Bugsy:

Each night before bed, I let the cats chase the laser pointer, running them in big circles around the stairwell. They get so wild that they're knocking paint off the walls. They sure look forward to it, though:

Dogs And Cats Of Home

Bugsy was my first test subject for a new camera. He was sitting on the blue yoga mat, next to the blue dog food bin:

Seamus, Daphne and Jack hung out at the ramp while I mowed their lawn. You can see the plum tree in blossom in the background:

Fergus moved away from the lawn mower and over to the back of the house while I mowed:

Clover prefers the north end of the yard, where she can nap on the warm rocks and be surrounded by tall grass:

And then Clover moved inside the dog house. Usually Daphne is the only one who goes in there:

In the farm house kitchen - a typical scene with Daisy, Sammy and Clover:

My sister brought me some mitten type hand puppets. I filled them with catnip and the cats went wild:

Jack watched as the cats got stoned:

After dumping the catnip out of one puppet, Sammy began rolling in it and got totally wasted. His eyes sort of crossed and he began "catching" his own tail:

On the other side of the house, Daphne and Seamus rested quietly in the computer room:

The big green floor pillow in the kitchen corner is always the most popular place in the house for napping:

The Almost All Canine News

Yesterday's post was almost all about the cats, so today I will focus on the dogs. This typical scene in the kitchen corner included all the dogs plus little Caspar, who likes to snuggle up to his giant buddy, Seamus:

The beloved dog beds and floor pillows in the kitchen corner with Clover, Fergus, Jack and Daphne:

The dogs have a fenced yard with a ramp down into it. They often stand at the gate and wait for me to let them back in:

But they also enjoy their time outside, especially when there is freshly fallen snow:

Seamus likes the chilly, snowy outdoors so much that he often resists coming back inside:

Jack developed a bad cough which the vet says is from infected teeth. He's been on antibiotics for over a week but is still coughing. When his cough is cured, he'll have most of his teeth removed:

Seamus and Fergus seem to be good friends, and spend much time together:

Seamus, Fergus and Daphne, keeping me company while I'm at the computer:

The big, green floor pillow was put there for Seamus, but the little dogs most often get it. In this case, it was Jack, Daphne and Clover:

Seamus, Daphne and Fergus, again watching me while I was at the computer:

We had a winter thaw, then a bit of fresh snow once again. That was cause for joy although they would have liked the snow to be deeper:

But the most common scene in my house is always the dogs (and Caspar) in the kitchen corner:

Dogs And Cats At Home

The dogs were in their fenced yard when my sister arrived for a visit and they were overjoyed to see her. Remy, far out in the field, recognized her vehicle immediately and came running to the gate, whinnying his excitement:

But before she got to see the dogs any closer, I showed her the flowers and a Canadian Swallowtail Butterfly. The dogs watched, hoping they'd be included soon:

Inside the house, Daisy had begun using Bramble's old bed - when she's in the mood, that is:

And Clover often cuddles with Bramble in the kitchen corner:

Daphne likes the big green floor pillow:

Georgette keeps changing her preferred napping spot. On this day, she was trying out an old chair in the kitchen:

Fergus chose a blue fleecy dog bed:

Clover, Daphne and Fergus shared the green floor pillow while Jack napped separately:

 Jack, lounging comfortably:

At bedtime each day, I send the dogs up the stairs with Bugsy and Daisy and close the door at the foot of the stairs. Then I give Georgette a third of a can of canned cat food to enjoy in peace while everyone else is upstairs. So when I go to bed, I have a lot of animals waiting for me:
