Pets On Pillows

You've probably noticed that a large percentage of my pet photos are of the animals on the floor pillows in the farm house kitchen. Since I'd accumulated a lot of such photos, and since they illustrate the animals getting along so well, I collected them into a special post. This picture was significant because it was the very first time little PeeWee had used the floor pillows. The other pets here were Seamus, Daphne, Fergus, Clover and Bramble:

All right, the next two photos are not of the floor pillows, but they seemed to fit in anyway. This first one shows the dogs in their yard with the chickens just outside the fence. I'm happy to report that when the two have accidentally gotten together, no chickens were harmed. In fact, they all seemed to act like buddies:

Georgette atop her cat tree at the top of the stairs. She spends a lot of time there and I probably reinforce that by petting her whenever I walk by:

OK, back to the floor pillows. This was Daphne, Seamus and Clover:

Dogs And Cats On The Farm

The dogs and cats have all settled in and made themselves at home in the farm house. I recently had my camera in hand when I saw this welcoming committee of Papillons at the top of my stairs:

But the kitchen floor pillows are still the favorite spot in the house. In this photo, Bramble, Daphne, Clover and Snoozey lounged together:

And this is my "bottom of the stairs welcoming committee:"

The dogs are happy in their fenced yard, especially while I'm working outside where they can watch me:

Again on the floor pillows: Daphne, Clover, Bramble and Fergus:

Dogs and rose hips. I plan to try harvesting the rose hips this year though I don't yet know what I'll do with them:

Daphne and Clover, AKA "The Silly Sisters," on floor pillows:

And Madeline joined the group for this photo:

Georgette usually stays upstairs but has been coming downstairs more frequently lately, presumably to socialize:

Seamus and Fergus kept each other company as a little patch of sunlight illuminated Seamus' head:

Another outdoors photo of the dogs on their ramp. They really love their ramp:

And lastly, Seamus and Madeline together. Madeline seems especially fond of Seamus. He's kind hearted and doesn't move too rapidly - and that's just fine with Madeline:

Happy Pets At Home

The "Buddies" series of blog posts has morphed into "Happy Pets At Home" because I often find the pets by themselves but looking too cute for me to pass up the opportunity to photograph them. And yet the kitchen's floor pillows remain their favorite spot. Here are Snoozey and Bramble together:

And waiting for me between the front door and the stairs were Fergus, Madeline and Daphne. All that aluminum flashing on the corners is my attempt to "foil" cats' scratching:

Georgette seldom comes downstairs, so it was a real occasion when she joined me in the living room:

Apparently this old green chest is a great cat perch, for Bramble liked it also:

This is Georgette's favorite spot, the very top of the tallest cat tree at the top of the stairs:

Clover, Snoozey and Bramble got cozy on the floor pillows while Daphne looked on from nearby:

And the usual sleeping arrangements, whether for the night or for daytime naps:

Snoozey and Clover had just been exchanging kisses, but I was too late to capture it:

Seamus and Snoozey shared a cool floor by the fan:

I bought a second cat tree and covered it with catnip, hoping that it would give Draco something better to do that harass Rocky. Indeed it did, and Draco got as mellow as the biggest pot-head. That mouse on a string, however, only lasted a few minutes:

One more photo of Snoozey and Bramble. They are buddies:

And another collection of buddies resting together on the floor pillows: Fergus, Bramble, Clover and Snoozey:

Buddies, Part 10

I've noticed that the mother lode for "Buddy" shots is the row of floor pillows in the farm house kitchen. Both dogs and cats tend to collect there, seeming to enjoy each other's company. This photo shows Clover, Fergus, Bramble, Daphne and Snoozey all in a row:

And whenever I descend the steps (and when a baby gate has prevented them from following me), I am greeted by the "Welcoming Committee." This committee meeting was of Madeline, Draco, Fergus, Seamus and Daphne:

Another kitchen collection, this one a bit more spread out: Bramble, Clover, Daphne and Snoozey:

And another jam-packed meeting of the "Buddy Society," this one with Clover, Bramble, Seamus, Fergus, Daphne and Madeline:

A somewhat smaller welcoming committee at the foot of the stairs: Draco, Seamus, Madeline and Fergus:

Two cat buddies, Bramble and Snoozey:

I recently added a fleece dog bed liner to help accommodate Seamus' gigantic body and here he is, using it - with Bramble and Snoozey in the background:

A different assortment: Daphne, Clover and Fergus:

And a third welcoming committee, this time with no cats: Madeline, Daphne, Clover, Fergus and Seamus:

Bramble, Clover and Snoozey:

And outside int the back yard, Seamus and Daphne hung out together while Madeline watched:

And one last row of pet buddies: Fergus, Daphne, Clover and Bramble. Bramble is not particularly fond of people, but he sure likes cats and dogs:

Buddies, Part 9

I always enjoy seeing my dogs and cats getting along, enjoying each others' company and, if I have a camera handy, I snap a photo when I see a new combination. This was Snoozey, Clover and Rocky:

Clover, Bramble, Fergus and Daphne on the floor pillows in the farm house kitchen. This seems to have become the spot for the most socialization:

Yes, Snoozey is all alone here but he looked so cute and comfy that I snapped his picture:

Daphne and Fergus came over to rest close to Snoozey:

And Daphne and Bramble got close:

Fergus and Bramble. That blue plaid floor pillow sure seems to have become popular:

Bramble and Snoozey:

This collection was more than just a few dogs and cats resting close to each other. They were actively engaging and Clover had rolled over to give Snoozey many kisses. Snoozey wasn't sure he liked dog kisses, but he also didn't get up and move away:

A whole row of buddies: Clover, Bramble, Fergus, Daphne and Snoozey:

And, still at the floor pillows in the farm house kitchen were Bramble, Daphne, Fergus and Clover:

Little Madeline was watching me from the rug which covers the old floor grate at the foot of the stairs and Snoozey came over to nestle against her. Snoozey, who had spent his first week at the farm house thoroughly traumatized from the move, has clearly recovered and made himself right at home:
