Dogs And Cats And Chickens And Cows And Around Town

Here's an update on some of the many critters in my life, beginning with these three. I was sitting at my computer when I turned around and saw Clover atop giant Seamus, both of them right next to my chair. So I decided to take a photo - but of course Daphne had to photobomb the shot. But her expression was cute and so earnest that she made the picture a keeper:

And speaking of sleeping dogs, Seamus was once again the centerpiece in this snoozing trio:

And sleeping cats also - Here are Georgette, Draco, Snoozey and Rocky, much closer together than usual. The only cat missing was Bramble. Where was Bramble?:

Here's Bramble, hiding at the top of the stairs lest I do something wild and crazy like try to pet him:

And at the bottom of the stairs, a welcoming committee of Seamus and Madeline. Perhaps they wanted to be sure I made it all the way down without an accident:

And in the the bovine department, here are all five of the red ladies munching hay (which is pretty much their full time occupation):

This photo showed Violet off as a well built cow, though all she cared about was eating the bedding hay. I try to explain to them that the more they eat of it, the less they'll have to sleep on - but do they listen to me? No, they do not:

And the happy little hens (and one rooster) in their coop:

One hen seems to have an inclination towards being broody. I may let her try raising a few chicks once the weather has improved sufficiently:

In the "Around Town" department, I had a neighbor (whom I'd never met) pass away recently. I happened to be buying feed on the day of his funeral and was told that because of his love of farming, his coffin would be transported to the cemetery by a tractor:

And his former employer, the owner of a very large farm, would lead the procession driving another tractor:

And on the way home that same day, I stopped to snap a photo at this farm scene. These Angus mix cattle had eaten the entire center out of a giant round bale of hay, leaving only the frozen exterior. It looked like a giant, hairy rigatoni:
